At the end of May, Franklin Country was showcased by Enterprise Franklin at TRENZ (Tourism Rendezvous NZ), the largest international showcase of New Zealand’s leading tourism and travel specialists. Staged by the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA), TRENZ is a significant annual event which brings together New Zealand tourism operators with international tourism buyers, in association with a substantial domestic and international media programme.
TRENZ gives tourism operators the opportunity to place their businesses at the forefront of New Zealand tourism by exhibiting. The event also provides a gateway to New Zealand tourism for our international markets and is considered a top priority for those promoting their business particularly in the current economic climate. This event focuses on delivering the very best New Zealand has to offer, to showcase our unique destination and drive future business with the assistance of key sponsors and supporters.
As part of our promotion of Franklin at TRENZ, a tourism DVD was commissioned which highlighted what Franklin has to offer as a key visitor destination. This DVD was circulated to media, international and domestic buyers and to those looking for experiences and destinations to promote, market and ultimately bring visitors to.
TRENZ 2010 was huge for Franklin as a destination. The standard allocation of appointments for a booth our size is 50 appointments - we had over 70 which meant that we were still having appointments with buyers as the stands around us were packing up at the end of the show. Since TRENZ we have had emails from buyers who are now promoting Franklin Country on line; who are bringing groups through and have succeeded in having our new tourism DVD accepted for placement on the home page of www.fourcorners.co.nz right under the Tourism New Zealand DVD and on You Tube.
